On 24th June 2022, the US Supreme Court overturned Roe V Wade, in turn allowing individual states to decide if and how to allow abortions. Due to such, many women will need to either travel hundreds of miles to reach an abortion provider or self-manage abortions at home through medication or other means.

Coincidently, just a few weeks earlier the renowned Portuguese-born British artist Paula Rego passed away at the age of 87. Rego was an internationally celebrated artist, whose career often centred on women’s rights. Notably, she created a series of works in response to the 1998 abortion referendum in Portugal. This series was later credited as having helped sway public opinion, partially leading to the legalisation of abortion in 2007. I was fortunate enough to view this series last year at Rego’s retrospective at Tate Britain and was greatly moved by all of her work.

Due to such,  50% of all sales of the Limited Edition Screen Print Series ‘Testing Times’ will be donated to a charity called IPAS.

IPAS are an international organisation that strives to create “a world where every person has bodily autonomy and can determine their own future”. They work with partners across Africa, Asia and the Americas to ensure reproductive health services such as abortion and contraception are available and accessible to all.
